BCA is a 3-year undergraduate degree programme that focuses of knowledge on the basics of computer application and software development. A BCA degree is considered to be at par with a BTech/BE degree in Computer Science or Information Technology. The degree helps interested students in setting up a sound academic base for an advanced career in Computer Applications.The course of BCA includes database management systems, operating systems, software engineering, web technology and languages such as C, C++, HTML, Java etc. It is a highly popular course amongst students aspiring to establish a career in established IT companies like HP, Accenture, Capgemini and Cognizant and new-age technology startups like Flipkart.
In Online BCA is an internet-based learning program. It is also provided at the UG level in many colleges. The duration of online BCA can extend from three years, and it can take a maximum duration of six years for completion. admission is offered through merit, and the marks of students in the 10+2 level are considered. The fee for an online BCA is much lower than a full-time BCA degree program. Some institutes may provide direct admission without any requirements. Many online platforms now offer easy access to online BCA courses, such as edX, Coursera, etc.
Unlike a B.Tech in computer science, BCA is a three-year programme. Therefore, students who do not wish to study for that long can choose BCA over B.Tech.
